ESTATE PLANNING AND PROBATE
The firm counsels clients on a full range of estate planning options starting with the evaluation of the client’s goals and unique circumstances in order to prepare an appropriate estate plan. After completion of this evaluation, the firm’s experienced attorneys customize the estate plan for the client’s individual needs. Services include providing instruments such as: Wills, Revocable Trusts, Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, Trusts for Minors, Irrevocable Trusts, Trusts for Persons with a Disability (i.e. Supplemental/Special Needs Trust) and Estate Tax Planning.
The firm provides representation and guidance for clients in both formal and informal probate proceedings and trust administration, as well as related procedures necessary to bring closure to the financial matters of the decedent and the distribution of their property.
SPECIAL NEEDS PLANNING
An important part of living life independently as an adult is having the ability to provide for your own basic needs. A person with cognitive or physical disabilities will often have a diminished capacity for employment, resulting in limited earning power and therefore an inability to meet their needs by maintaining financial independence. Our firm has been among the leaders in providing advice and counsel to individuals with special needs and providing proper planning for their family members for over 40 years.
The firm provides expert services relating to guardianship and conservatorship and their less restrictive alternatives, to the planning for managing resources and eligibility for government assistance programs under the rules of Social Security and Medical Assistance (Medicaid), and to special concerns such as those related to housing and other issues.
